Blab With Sandy: Mohit Nain

Blab With Sandy: Mohit Nain

Hey People! We have actor Mohit Nain with us in this segment of #BlabwithSandy. Mohit debuts as an actor in films with the latest release Penalty starring Kay Kay Menon, Shashank Arora, Manjot Singh and others. Let’s dive into the blab I had with him:

Sandy: Hi Mohit! How are you doing?

Mohit: Hey Sandy! All good. 🙂

Sandy: Could you let us know a little about your background?

Mohit: I belong to Rohtak, Haryana. My family members are mostly working in the Government (CBI, Amry, and Politics). Right from my 10th grade, I wanted to be a part of acting. I used to take part in school and college plays/ sports.

I completed my Medical diploma (Multipurpose Health Worker). I seriously wanted to give a try at acting and started attending weekend theatre without letting my family know about it. But, one day my dad’s friend saw me and informed my family about my trials.

I came to Mumbai on 3rd January 2016 and started giving many auditions. People told me that lobbying is very important. I met many people and finally I got a break in TV serials and shows.

Sandy: Great! How did you land yourself in the film Penalty?

Mohit: I got a call from Rudraksh films for an audition. I wasn’t well, so I missed out on receiving the call initially. I later called back and got to know about the opportunity.

The director and producer told me about the film and that, if picked, I had to get trained in a workshop on football. It was a dream come true situation altogether!

Sandy: How was the experience of working in Penalty with the other lead cast?

Mohit: It was fantastic. We shot under 49-50 degrees heat in Lucknow. Lukram, Shashank Arora and Manjot became close friends with me. I got to learn a lot from Kay Kay Menon ji. We had a few real-life football players too in the film, and it was a wonderful experience.

Sandy: Nice! A few anecdotes on director Shubham Singh.

Mohit: Though it was his debut film, he never looked like a debutant. He is a silent worker, who gives full liberty to his actors.

I play a negative role in the film, but offscreen I am in positives with Shubham and actor Lukram, ha-ha!

Sandy: The film focuses on racism. Your thoughts on the subject?

Mohit: Unfortunately, racism is still prevalent in many parts of the country. Especially, the North-East people are treated badly.

The film focuses on that subject and I am hopeful that things would change for the good in the future.

Sandy: What’s the other works that you’ve done prior to Penalty?

Mohit: I have worked in TV series, was a part of commercials alongside Shriya Saran, Mannara Chopra and others in Hindi and Telugu languages.

My short film named Gutaragu won accolades at LA film festival. I played the lead role in the show Perfect Pati.

Quick Shot Round:

  • Directors you’d like to work with: Imtiaz Ali and Raju Hirani
  • Favorite Film: Rockstar, Andhadhun, Conjuring, etc
  • One good thing and one bad thing about the industry: People are judged easily without thinking properly. Good artists need more appreciation which is missing. Good thing is, being an actor, we get to love many lives in one life, many roles we do which gives a different feeling
  • Imagine being stuck in a lift and you can have two people tagged along. Who would those two be? Randeep Hooda and Ranbir Kapoor 🙂
  • Favorite genre: I like art films, love stories and gangster films
  • Mumbai: It’s my Dil
  • Bollywood: My Love
  • Love: Ha-ha, it’s all about respect

Sandy: Any piece of advice that you’d like to give newcomers?

Mohit: Please come prepared and have lots of patience. No one will give you work easily. You need to meet people and give auditions. Have the will and try till you succeed.

Sandy: What’s in the pipeline for you?

Mohit: I have my next film coming up which is titled ‘Escape’. It may release early next year.

Sandy: A few words about Hyderabad Local.

Mohit: Thanks Sandy for making me a part of your show. It was lovely blabbing. Wishing you all the very best at the movies!

Editor’s note: Mohit Nain is a name to reckon for soon. Wishing him a successful film journey ahead of him.
