Hello Folks! We have actress and model, Avantika Mishra with us for this week’s Blab with Sandy. She has worked for many top brands as a model. She made her onscreen Telugu debut with the 2014 release Maaya, directed by National Award-winning director Neelakanta.
She was seen in films like Meeku Meere Maaku Meme and Vaisakham recently. Let’s dive into the Blab I had with Avantika Mishra:
Sandy: Hello Avantika!
Avantika: Hey Sandy!
Sandy: Could you let us know about your background?
Avantika: My father is in the Air Force. We have been moving allover India since my childhood. My father is from Bihar and mother belongs to Delhi.
I have been in Bengaluru for many years, thus I have got the South Indian touch too. 🙂 I studied in eight schools due to my dad’s transfers and I have been to almost every part of India.
Sandy: How did modelling and films happen?
Avantika: I was a nerd but was also into athletics. I was more like a Tomboy and modelling wasn’t really my thing. My friends told me that I am tall enough to try my hand in films. I started modelling during my second year of college. I did ramp modelling and pursued it as a part time. I wanted to earn from my young age and did modelling as a short-term plan.
I had to maintain 85% attendance and my HOD had a tough time with me (Laughs). I participated in fashion shows and earned quite well within my first 6 months of modelling. As luck would have it, modelling lead to films and here I am. 🙂
Sandy: What are the brands for which you have done modelling for?
Avantika: Chennai Shopping Mall, Kalyan, CMR, Tanishq, Nalli Silks, Himalaya, Puma, Reebok, Garnier and other brands. I worked with Kamal Hassan garu for Pothy’s and Mahesh Babu for Chennai Silks.
Quick Shot Round:
- Maaya: Challenging Role
- Meeku Meere Maaku Meme: Easy Breathing 🙂
- Vaisakham: Learning Experience as a Commercial Heroine
- Director Jaya: Motherly. She is like a tender coconut
- Tollywood: Colorful Place
- Modelling: Easy Money… ha ha!
- If not an actor: Would have been a Businesswomen or a Pilot 🙂
- Favorite Actors: Amitabh Bachchan, Chiyaan Vikram and many others
- Favorite Films: Tamasha, The Hours, etc.
Editor’s Note: We spoke at length about “Tamasha” as it’s one of my favorite films too! “Tamasha” didn’t go down everyone’s throats easily. It focused on loss of self that happens to find oneself. 🙂 I and Avantika belong to the unfortunately minor bunch of people who loved “Tamasha”.
Sandy: Your hobbies?
Avantika: I am very adventurous. I love to trek, play squash, go horse riding and love to spend my free time honing my Kathak skills.
Sandy: What are your upcoming films?
Avantika: I have two films in Tamil and an interesting project coming up in Telugu. Will let you know the details soon 🙂
Sandy: Few words about Hyderabad Local
Avantika: I like the name “Hyderabad Local”. This interview was fun and crisp. All the best to you 🙂
Hyderabad Local wishes Avantika Mishra, the best of times ahead!
